Members of the GCFD were on hand as Operation 6abc: Save a Life kicked off yesterday. Special thanks to Kidde, 6abc, The Home Depot and the Tri State Toyota Dealers Association which together donated over 10,000 smoke detectors to help local fire companies. The GCFD were one of the department’s fortunate enough to receive some of the detectors to help Gloucester City residents stay safe. If you or someone you know is in need of a detector, please contact us at 856-456-0231.
Here is some more helpful information in regards to Operation 6abc: Save a Life
Simple Steps to Safety:
•Replace smoke alarms every 10 years. Install smoke alarms on every floor, in hallways, inside bedrooms and outside of sleeping areas. Also, if smoke alarms are turning yellow, they need to be replaced.
•Test alarms weekly.
•Install CO alarms on each floor and near bedrooms. CO weighs about the same as air, so an alarm can be plugged into an outlet, placed on a table or shelf or mounted high on a wall. If your CO Detector is chirping for any reason please dont ASSUME its a bad battery. Contact your fire department, or call 911.
